There are all types of party decorations that scream good times and celebrations. From little party poppers and balloons to the biggest confetti cannons. We’ve had a ton of fun getting our gas tanks installed to confetti cannons and other special effects machines for music festivals and concerts, nightclubs, conventions, theatre shows, and sports ceremonies, but on occasion, we will deliver our cylinders for the smaller things like balloon filling. Along with the helium cylinder, a helium regulator would also be needed. Regulators of any kind allow for the output of compressed gas inside gas cylinders and balloon fillers count as one.
It’s good to know your gas regulator, even ones with the simplest of functions. We are going to guide you through what the balloon fillers are best for and the more commonly available types. We’ll also take a quick look at the purpose of each part and some of the features that can come equipped with one.
The Parts and Features of Balloon Fillers
Balloons are a great way to celebrate the most special moments in parties and ceremonies. There are three ways to get air in them. First off, there’s water. Second way is with the power of human energy and blowing into them yourself. The third and final option, you can use a helium balloon filler. Either one works out, but if you’re in need of a ton of balloons, a helium tank and filler would be quicker and more efficient.
There is a small variety of different looking helium fillers and most of them will come with at least one of the more common features of the average gas regulator. They will usually contain a pressure gauge, where pressure is read in psi, and the outlet pressure will be controlled with either a screw or a knob. Having an outlet psi gauge built in is usually recommended for any type of gas regulator. Many gas regulators come equipped with dual gauge readers, which display both inlet and outlet pressure. Although, having both specifically on a balloon filler is uncommon, as you won’t really need to keep track of both.
Balloon fillers are usually screwed on top of the helium tank. Most of the time, the outlet fitting found on them is a tilt valve that will dispel the gas, and you are even able to control just how much of the gas comes out.
Latex & Mylar Balloon Fillers
There are usually two types of valves most common for helium regulators, each meant for balloons of different materials. One meant for the more shiny mylar balloons, and another for the smoother, softer latex balloons. The mylar balloons get filled on the metal tip, while the black tilt valve, usually made of rubber, serves to fill latex balloons.
Some of them will have a valve on two ends, being a single helium regulator functioning as two balloon fillers. In fact, you’re likely to see dual balloon fillers more often than the single valve types. If you happen to sell both types of balloons, it’d be more practical and efficient to use one of these.
